You may be wondering…So what does a Postpartum Doula do?
As a Postpartum Doula in Northeastern Colorado I can support you with:

- Provide lactation support such as positioning, getting a good latch and helping baby wake up to eat well
- Be a safe place for you to share your birth story
- Provide education around healthy sleep habits for you and your newborn
- Help with baby laundry, washing bottles and pump parts and keeping the kitchen tidy
- Newborn education on sleep and hunger cues
- Troubleshooting and offering tips on reflux and gas pains
- Education for fussy babies and strategies that are easy for parents to do

Having support early on in the postpartum period, such as the day you get home and a few weeks after, is so beneficial to your recovery and mental health as you adjust to bringing home a newborn.
As a Postpartum Doula with over 15 years of experience working with families I love sharing sleep tips to promote healthy sleep habits for your newborn. This education gives you peace as a new parent so that you have the confidence to know when your newborn is tired or hungry. This will benefit you so you can meet your newborns needs quickly without the overwhelm AND without Googling at 2 am! I have heard many parents say that they thought their baby would just sleep when they laid them down, little did they know that this was not the case!
When should I hire a postpartum doula?
Newborns need a lot of soothing and support to sleep well. I often get a call from parents around 6-8 weeks asking for day or night help. If your struggling with sleep deprivation, reach out and make a call. I offer day or night support. It’s never too early or too late to hire a postpartum doula!
A postpartum doula does more than just offer an extra set of hands, I provide knowledge, reassurance, and encouragement to help your family thrive. My superpower is educating parents on all things sleep related! Sleep helps your body heal from the delivery and decreases possible mood disorders.
I believe that every new parent deserves the opportunity to receive expert newborn advice, support and encouragement to help them feel seen, heard and valued as a new parent. You don’t have to figure out the newborn period by yourself! You are not alone!
How can a postpartum doula help me get more sleep?
- A postpartum doula can help reduce postpartum mood disorders by offering emotional support to new moms
- A postpartum doula can offer you science based education about your newborn so that you don’t feel overwhelmed
- Doulas can help you feel prepared and ease your anxiety so that you can enjoy the newborn period
- Doulas can provide education on newborn sleep shaping to maximize your night sleep as a new parent

What does a postpartum doula do?
I offer daytime or nighttime postpartum services in northeastern Colorado. During the day I am available to come for a few hours (usually 2-4 hour blocks) during the day to help you with lactation support, newborn education, doing baby laundry, tidying up the kitchen, washing bottles or pump parts and being a listening ear.
During the night I offer 8-12 hour blocks of time. Hiring a doula for overnight care gives you a chance to rest and recover.
